About Affiliate Marketing

If you made it to this page, chances are good that you already know what affiliate marketing is. But in case you’re feeling confused by some of the misinformation out there, I’ll clear it up for you. The concept is actually very simple.

Let’s suppose you’re an affiliate marketer, whether you’re doing business online or not. The first thing you do is enter into agreements with one or more vendors who have products or services that they sell. The next thing you do is go forth and recommend these products to potential customers – in other words, you’re a referral. If someone buys products from your affiliated vendors, those vendors honor their end of the agreement and pay you a percentage of the sale price.

And that’s it. No tricks, no scams, and no fads. The practice went on even before the Internet, although some people called it “revenue sharing” back then. Today, there is so much e-commerce, and so much software to track affiliate sales, create sales pages, and send out emails to subscribers, that the process can almost be completely automated. Almost. Although it’s not free to begin in affiliate marketing, it’s one of the least expensive businesses to start. You need almost nothing beyond a reliable Internet connection.

Can anyone be an affiliate marketer?

Just about anyone, yes. However, success in affiliate marketing requires both knowledge and skill. All the important knowledge about affiliate marketing is available to you for free (just ask us where to look). On the other hand, skill has to come with practice. You have to launch some affiliate campaigns of your own to develop that skill. We can help there, too. Keep on reading!
